Scrap & Music: Sketch #33 Livin' La Vida Loca - Ricky Martin

It is my last reveal as DT member at Scrap & Music and also Scrap & Music's last challenge for a while. They are taking a break but we hope to have them back shortly with some more awesome inspiration. I loved being on this DT and working with Ana Castro's sketches and the song inspiration.

The song for this challenge is Livin' La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin.

I used background paper from the Love Notes range by Crate Paper and added a magazine cut-out. Everything just fell into place from there. When I glued the cut-out to the paper it looked like it belonged there, like that was the way the paper was designed. I love it.

The speech bubble was part of the cut-out but it contained some random acronym or something. I covered the text with an oval shaped piece of paper and added my own title.

This girl is so gorgeous. I think I need to look up more of these type of pictures to print out and use on layouts and art journal pages.

Most of the elements I used are from the Love Notes range by Crate Paper.

The photos were taken during our holiday in Durban. We had dinner at a buffet restaurant and when Karla discovered the chocolate cake she simply couldn't stop eating.

And lastly, the sketch by Ana Castro.

Isn't it cute?

Scrap-a-Doodles Design Team 2014 Audition

I am auditioning for the Scrap-a-Doodles Design Team. It is a very exciting prospect as I love their online store and would love to work with them. Here are some of my favourite and most recent designs.

This layout was created for the Scrap & Music DT. I love the softness of the colours and, above all, the memories of a perfect day.

This one was done on canvas. I collaged book paper and used a variety of mists and other mediums to create the background.

The next layout was submitted for a Scrap Around the World challenge. The paper straws are my favourite part.

The following layout was featured on My Creative Sketches.

This layout is still one of my favourites, although it is so out of my comfort zone and different to my usual work. I love the freedom mixed media gives me to explore and experiment.

Thank you for the opportunity to audition.

Scrap Africa: Pinterest mood board

There is a new challenge up at Scrap Africa and it is a Pinterest inspired mood board! Don't you just love these colours?

I was inspired by the colours and that beautiful cello, as I obviously love music. My DD is taking keyboard lessons at school and excelling in the subject. You can see her love for what she's doing on her face in this photo.

There are awesome prizes up for grabs! Join the challenge here.

Scrap & Music: Sketch 32 Crazy - Aerosmith

It's time for a new song and sketch at Scrap & Music and you are in for another treat from our talented DT.

Our song this week is Crazy by Aerosmith. It was one of my absolute favourite songs when I was in high school.

I used a photo I took while photographing skydivers 2 weekends ago.

New Heart Challenges: Create / Creation

Our first challenge is up at New Heart Challenges and the theme is Create / Creation.
Isaiah 45:18
For this is what the LORD says— He who created the heavens, He is God; He who fashioned and made the earth, He founded it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited— He says: “I am the LORD, and there is no other."

Scrap Africa sketch challenge: Create Art

I sneaked these photos while browsing the Robertson Art Gallery. I am so in awe in that place with so much wonderful talent and inspiration. Makes me feel a little inadequate and like “when I grow up I want to make art like that.”

Here are some close-ups of the layout:

My journaling: These 2 gorgeous paintings by Fiona Ewan Rowett can be found in the Robertson Art Gallery. One day when I grow up I will create art as breathtaking as this.

And yet another amazing sketch by Denise Van Deventer at Scrap Africa:
