The Color Room #141: My Mammie

Ooh I almost forgot! Last week's layout about my mom was also created with the The Color Room's colours for this fortnight. Here she is again:

Life Book 2013: Week 4

Like Week 3, I also did Week 4 twice. But for a different reason. And that reason is that I sucked at it!

But I'm going to show you my attempt anyway... (This is the second one.)

Life Book 2013: Week 3

Christy Tomlinson's class was so cool that I did it twice!

Here is my second attempt:

And some close-ups:

And my first attempt:

I think the second one was better than the first.

Sketches with a Twist: My Mammie

I took this super cute photo of my mom when I was playing around with my new camera on my birthday in December.

The layout was based on the February sketch over at Sketches with a Twist. The twist is to use texture paste.
I used texture paste to adhere metal hearts to the left and right of my photo. I painted light blue paint over the texture paste and then highlighted the hearts with yellow paint.

The yellow chevron was made with a stencil and texture paste mixed with yellow paint.

Sketchabilities: Tangled Tree

We visited Van Loveren, my favourite wine estate in the Robertson Wine Valley, in December. We used to go there for wine tasting in their beautiful garden, sit under the trees while being served bottles of wine to “taste” as much as you want. They have changed it quite drastically. There is now a beautiful deck where you can relax and enjoy the wine that you purchased from their deli, where they also sell delicious snacks. Wine tasting is done at a bar counter inside.

The whole outside area is built around a certain tree which they have named Tangled Tree and after which they have also named their new brand of novelty wines. Two trees were planted side by side and, as they grew, their branches entangled and they grew into one. It really is something to behold.

One of the staff was kind enough to give me some of the labels bearing this new brand and I used it to mat the photos of the trees.

Here are the tree photos (they are not too clear on the photo of the layout):

The layout was based on the current sketch over at Sketchabilities. I loved working with the multiple photo sketch.
