Sketches with a Twist: A Beautiful Place

My last layout for 2012! Hopefully I can continue in 2013 the way I ended off 2012. With lots and lots and lots of layouts!

We visited the Outdoor Arena in Bonnievale in November. Such a beautiful place! We had breakfast before starting a day of exploring Bonnievale and visiting some wine estates. We were having fun taking photos of each other running down a grassy hill. So cute!

How cute is this little frame!

The layout is based on a sketch by Sketches with a Twist, which I flipped on its side. The twist was that you had to use glitter. I outlined some of the doodling that was already on the page and highlighted the dots with glitter.

May you enjoy a prosperous 2013. Have an awesome evening and be safe!

Creative Scrappers #241: My awesome new camera

THREE layouts in 1 day? What?!

I know I've mentioned this before... but I absolutely LOVE my new camera! I simply had to create a layout of this photo. It just came out so beautifully. And I love the way the layout turned out too.

Here's the sketch by the very talented Kristine Davidson. It is also Creative Scrappers' new logo. Go check it out here.

Creative Scrappers #239: Coffee at Cafè Rosa

Another layout? What? You'll be surprised

I love artistic photos but find it very hard to create layouts with photos that are not of people. My DD thought it was very strange... but I LOVED working with this sketch, these colours and of course the photo. The background paper is from a stack called Tillie Dot Spotted by Core'dinations. The distressed look was achieved by simply sanding roughly over the surface. I love this paper because of the awesome colours and of course the dots; like plain cardstock with just that little bit extra.

Here's the sketch. I turned it on its side and used 1 photo instead of 3. Three cheers for me for stepping out of my comfort zone!

Let's Capture These Sketches: Acting silly on Christmas Eve

I was playing around with my new camera on Christmas Eve and, as always, Karla was a very willing model. I love these photos of her and trust me, there are MANY more. I had such a hard time choosing just a handful for this layout.

I used the “All is Bright” range by My Mind's Eye. What a beautiful range! I have made a Christmas tree with this range and still have so much left; I will definitely have to print some more photos and make another layout or 2.

The layout was based on this sketch by Let's Capture These Sketches. When I saw it I knew I HAD to use it, especially because of the hexagon stickers in the MME range.

Once Upon a Sketch: Sunset at Blue Peter

I adore this photo of Karla taken at Blue Peter at sunset a few days ago. As you can see I am slightly obsessed with washi tape at the moment. I'm sure it'll blow over... or maybe not

The layout is based on the December sketch over at Once Upon a Sketch.

Sketchbook 365: ME!

Yes, for once I have scrapped a page about myself. I don't do it often. I think the last one might have been of my 30th birthday (sadly, 4 years ago).

I think the journaling really captures something of what I have been experiencing lately.

Although I have been working with sketches for a while now I am still struggling with breaking away from the original “structure” of the sketch and find myself trying to copy the sketch as a whole. Nevertheless, I like how this layout turned out and I always like Sketchbook 365's sketches. This layout is based on their January sketch.

New toy

I celebrated my birthday on Monday and hubby spoiled me with the best gift ever! A new camera!

1222_Camera.jpg

It's a Canon SX40HS and I absolutely love it! I'm not technical (or patient) enough to learn how to use an SLR or EOS camera so this is perfect for me. Just check out the beautiful close-ups.

And this super cute photo of my mom
